Dougie and I started on our huegelkultur beds, one of the permaculture projects we are excited about.
As our neighbors to the South lost 3 sheep to probably the Cougar in the hood, we were worried about our little goats becoming prey. The chickens climb up their ladder and should be safe but the goats just had a wire fence so far. Dougie and I built them a home with some panels and a metal gate that probably won't hold up for long but should work for now.
We are pretty excited about the outcome as we had to macgyver a bit to make it happen. Alexia Allen came to visit Moonshine Creek and help me understand better what is here and what is possible. We chased the goats around a bit to get their hooves trimmed. They got rewarded with blackberries afterwards. I learnt a ton from Alexia and need some time to process and get started on the many ideas we talked about.
After weeks of anticipation the bookshelf is finally up. It felt great to get all the books out and sorted. They are waiting for being discovered.
Thinking about epigenetics and repair a lot. My Grandpa (Mom's side) grew up on a farm meant to take it over as an adult. Coming back from Russia after the war he was not invited back home and started a new life. Some part of me makes me think I am repairing his pain in losing his home and farm and continuing on my lineage as farmers.
