As part of our Climate Families group retreat we talked about our environmental impact as a family.
We do recycle. We do walk to the store some days. Kids walk/take the bus to school. We share a house with our neighbors and have about 3/4 of utility use of a single family home. We use a bit more water as usual because of a health condition requiring daily laundry. The goal is to reduce our Carbon footprint by 10 - 15 % each year. As a family we decided to eat less meat. Our habit was to eat meat daily. We plan on reducing meat consumption to half of the time and poultry instead of pork and beef, which has a way bigger impact. We also want to walk and bike more. We are thinking about driving less. We are currently mainly driving our hybrid. We need to research about heat panels to reduce natural gas and power (our utility bill goes up to $250/mo during winter month as our house is old and not energy efficient, like our former green townhome).
