Sarah's Birthday Cake ;-) She got to pick the super 'expensive' chocolate cake for $3. We all got free drinks (coffee and tea) with our IKEA Family Card and are always pleased if we find something for all 4 of us that won't break the bank.
Happy Hour Pizza is $15 each. And Proletariat is just great. For this check we had friends and the kids with us, but technically we would have been in budget as one pizza is plenty for the two of us.
Got an extra 2 pancakes for free because the waitress first screwed up our order. We had plenty to eat and all was tasty. $4 Value Slam is quite the deal!
Each plate is about $10. So if ordered 2 different ones, it will be over budget. In this case we wanted to order something different. 7 Spices Walnut Glazed Chicken and a Vegetable dish.
Grease but good food. $2 over budget for Fish & Chips but just that plate would have been plenty for the 2 of us. Next time, we'll know... Order downstairs and then head up passed the bar to the 2nd floor where you can enjoy a nice view over Puget Sound. Great quick place with out of town visitors, which we had.
Fanciest meal of the year - offset by an Auction Gift Certificate we treasured for the last 4 years and finally spent! Score!
We usually don't like spending that much money on going out, but were pleased the experience was great and we all really enjoyed it. It was Marco's Birthday Dinner and we paid about $20 per person after using the Gift card. And for $20 per person it was well worth it. $15 per person for the Sushi Lunch buffet which is awesome. I could have watched him eat. He had so much joy. But to be honest, it was not $15 for the meal for both of us, so challenge failed, but we celebrated life so well worth it.
We had a couple of ideas where we could go but needed to run some errands in Sodo. While I have a hard time feeling relaxed in the Costco food court, dining on sterile while benches very close to strangers and with the fumes of the tire store in my nose, I do enjoy the Costco deal, which is the real deal for $10. We even got a Hot Dog for honey bunny that came with soda just because we needed a drink with the pizza. Because dining in a mini van in pouring rain is way more romantic then a cold, busy Costco exit, we had a hot and delicious slice right there. We had another one just before the kids got home from school and another one with them as we had plenty leftover. And totally in our budget.
We love Pho Aroma for family dinner. We like going there and think it's pretty affordable for a family of 4. Kids get the chicken from the Kids Menu and we love the Vietnamese beef stew and vermicelli bowls. One bowl would be in our cheap date budget but not two, but for lunch Pho Aroma does fantastic Banh Mi. They come in the best buns ever!
Found a coupon in the mail. Buy on entree and get the second free!
We had a mole and chicken tacos. 2 huge plates. Pictures will follow. We paid $13. It was very tasty and filling but felt a little like cheating. It was so much food. I really like the ambient but the lights were flickering which I am a bit sensitive too. Still a great and romantic lunch for us! Paper ad promised 2 fish burger for $1.50 each on Fridays. We have to check this out. Got our fish burgers, got a flavored water and a whole pie on sale.
We ended up on a park bench opposite our QFC in the sun but without any utensils for the peach pie. Fish burgers where a bit damp but still chewy. Not the worst meal we had, but it's a fish burger in a paper wrap. What can I say. We still had fun and giggled a bit biting in the pie full face. It was enough to feed some to the kids after dinner. A little tight on money with job transition and new business ventures going on in our life, we didn't totally miss out on one of our all time common favorite thing to do: dining out. So we came up with a plan. On Fridays we will go on a cheap date. It's during lunch time and it has to be close and we can't spend more than $15 (I told my husband $10) for the meal. It's a challenge!
