Learn to be a Forest Steward

In the  meantime, there are a handful of things you can do to learn more about the program/urban Forest Restoration:

  1. Take a read of the Forest Steward Field Guild—our guiding document for community based forest restoration in Seattle Parks. http://greenseattle.org/information-for/forest-steward-resources/field-guide/
  2. Attend additional trainings—we have continuing education for all of the Forest Steward community (150+ amazing volunteers)—so head to a training to learn more and meet some of fellow forest lovers. We haven’t added the 2017 trainings yet, but we should be putting some up in the next couple of weeks.http://greenseattle.org/information-for/forest-steward-resources/forest-steward-trainings/
  3. Go to some work parties—once you get going at your own project, you’ll almost never pull yourself away to go to another work party.  I can’t recommend this enough.  This is a great way to meet other Forest Stewards, learn best management practices for planting, weed removal, and event leadership.  If you want some recommendations—I’d be happy to tell you about a few Forest Stewards who really host great events! http://seattle.cedar.greencitypartnerships.org/event/map/
