Here comes a funny story most of my friends at home know already but for all who don't know here it comes.
1998 I went on a trip to Los Angeles with two of my best girlfriends. We got our rental car from the rental station. It was a very new white van with only 70 miles on the meter. We were really excited. First we headed to Santa Monica to see the beach and seaside. We passed the Baywatch Headquarters and spontaneously decided to go there. So, we made an u-turn and got on the next parking lot, but unfortunately we went over the spikes in the wrong direction, and just with the front tires. We stopped immediately and freaked out a bit. I sat in the back and looked out the window. Right next to the car under the window, out of the sight of the driver, was a big yellow parking pole. I screamed but it was too late. The car hit the post and scratched the whole side. We all yelled. My friend tried to get away from the post while my other friend and I pushed down the spikes to protect the back tires. We were a little shocked when we got to the Baywatch Headquarters - unsure if our tires will go flat and on top we had this big yellow scratch on the shiny white body. We were really upset and asked a policeman if he would be able to help us. But he said 'Sorry, I'm just an extra (actor) for the movie set.' So, we sat on the beach waiting if the tires will change and finally, we saw David Hasselhoff coming out of the building and sitting on the balcony of the Headquarters. We took a picture of him (from far away) and after a while, our tires didn't get flat, we decided to return the mini van to the rental station. We had to make a lot of circles for all the pieces that where damaged on the insurance report. But the insurance covered everything and we got another new car, which was even better and fancier than the first one - and we didn't even wreck it. Joe said - all Germans like David Hasselhoff. Not exactly, said Marco. ;-)
